BRENDAN COWELL is an award-winning writer, actor, and director across television, theatre and film. His plays have been produced internationally, including Ruben Guthrie at Belvoir St Theatre, which he later adapted into a feature film that opened the Sydney Film Festival, winning an AWGIE Award for the screenplay. His other plays include The Sublime (MTC), Bed (STC), Men (NYC), Rabbit (Frantic Assembly, UK tour), and Happy New, which transferred to Trafalgar Studios in London. He has won the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award, the Philip Parsons Young Playwrights’ Award and the Griffin Award. For television, Brendan wrote and directed The Outlaw Michael Howe (ABC) and was a main staff writer on the acclaimed TV series Love My Way, in which he also starred. He won the AACTA Award for Best Screenplay for The Slap, later nominated for BAFTA and Emmy Awards. His bestselling novels How It Feels and Plum led to an acclaimed ABC TV adaptation in which he played the title role. He plays Mick Scoresby in the Avatar sequels and is developing Grandchild of the Year through his company, Modern Convict Films.
