RUTH PIELOOR is a mid-career actor, producer, writer, and emerging videographer (‘Screen and Media’ Diploma Canberra Institute of Technology). Ruth’s published plays include Under My Bed by Australia Plays Transform, and Demented by Currency Press. Ruth wrote and produced short film Follow Your Nose, which was selected for multiple festivals, winning Canberra’s ‘People’s Choice’ Lights Canberra Action, ‘Best Actress’ Veneto International Film Festival, WTF Festival, and ‘Highly Commended’ at the Canberra Short Film Festival. Other recent film credits include Remembering Mum, a documentary short, inspired by her lived experience, and Juicy Pair, a documentary short about local musical comedy duo Sparrow Folk.   Ruth has featured in various local short films, performed in stage productions at The Street Theatre, and enjoyed being a previous participant in the Street’s HIVE and EXPAND programs. Ruth has created and performed in many Sydney and Canberra Short and Sweet Festivals, winning multiple ‘Best Actress’, ‘Best Production’, ‘Best Director’ Gala awards. Ruth is a resident Clown Doctor with The Humour Foundation, AWG member, and proud MEAA Ambassador. Passionate about inspiring, supporting and empowering actors and artists to strengthen and diversify best arts practices in our region, Ruth has recently launched her new Showreel business - ACT4Reel.
